Most people’s gut response would be, ‘Of course.’ In the public consciousness, Armed Forces personnel are the very definition of discipline and drive, no-nonsense people who can get the job done – all the qualities we would look for in an outstanding employee. Furthermore, business-speak is steeped in military terms like strategy, targets and campaigns, and companies host thrilling away-days in which employees get to shoot each other with paint guns, or glean leadership secrets from former commandos.
Anyone would think that a military background was a free pass to one’s career of choice.
