The Big Issue
Fifteen years ago, The Big Issue investigated the number of homeless ex-service people living on the streets of London. They found that approximately one in six people was ex-Armed Forces. The Government reacted by putting in place several initiatives to help make the transition from a military life to a civilian one that much easier. This year Big Issue is launching a special Armed Forces campaign focusing on Heropreneurs and what can be done to help service leavers and veterans into business.

Cisco Academy
In partnership with the Cisco Academy, a blended learning programme will be developed, to enable veterans and service leavers to learn ICT skills and apply them to their own business. Through this partnership we hope to attract some of the Armed Forces best service leavers, especially those who have received technology training in some of the world’s best Armed Forces units.
The Federation of Small Businesses
The Federation of Small Businesses is the UK’s largest campaigning pressure group promoting and protecting the interests of the self-employed and owners of small firms. Formed in 1974, it now has 205,000 members across 33 regions and 194 branches.
