This mass awareness exercise of ours
We need to create a mass awareness exercise to stimulate business ownership. The more we as a society do, the less we will require Government to do. There is an enormous opportunity to improve conditions for people in communities up and down this country, if we take much more of a community approach to problem solving. This requires support from companies of all sizes and in all regions of the UK to pledge help and support to start-ups close to them by offering the simple things in life, usually at no cost, such as:
- Freeing up desk-space
- Allowing start-ups to use vacant meeting rooms
- Offering skills or advice to encourage more people to start small businesses in areas local to them
- Using their CSR agendas to create local finance initiatives for people local to them
Mentors
Our Mentors are experienced and successful business owners who have a desire to pass on their experience to our beneficiaries on a voluntary basis. Each mentor takes a leading role in supporting, guiding and advising businesses we support.
As a mentor with Heropreneurs, you will be matched with one business supported by us. You will meet regularly with the beneficiary to help them plan, execute and report on their business. The minimum commitment is 12 months, during which time you will add exceptional value to our beneficiaries by supporting them with strategic input, business contacts and operational capability.
Business Advisors
Business Advisors provide their help to us on a pro-bono basis, either as part of a programme structured by an employer or as a personal contribution. Our advisors come from a diverse backgrounds and include employees of legal and finance companies, universities, managers and employees of small and medium-sized firms as well as individuals.
We continue to add to our group of advisors who offer support to Heropreneurs as well as our benefiaciries, either in a planned and regular way or at short notice or for a specific project. We are always looking to build on our capability and include new geographical areas to what we offer.
Donations and fund raising
Like all registered charities we require funding to sustain and grow our offering. We believe what Heropreneurs offers is very specfic to business because many people starting out in business now are in a near identical situation to what all businesses have been at one point in their lives. Whether it is financially supporting Heropreneurs or helping a particular business to grow and prosper. Likewise, we need people to fundraise on our behalf. Partnerships
Heropreneurs needs a constant flow-through of people and likewise we have people to pass on to other organisations, this is how it should be, it is about mutual awareness and sharing resposibilities.
Volunteering
An organisation like ours survives on good will and voluntary effort. We need people with all sorts of skills including office and administration.
