Heropreneurs Receive the AFC ERS Silver Award

On Monday 3rd October, our CEO Becci Parriss received the Armed Forces Covenant Employer Recognition Scheme Silver Award on behalf of Heropreneurs from His Majesty's Lord Lieutenant of Devon. The citation read:

"Heropreneurs is a not-for-profit micro organisation that looks to empower new entrepreneurs from the military community to achieve their business ambitions. Any current or future recruitment vacancies available are advertised through relevant military employment portals and agencies including Forces Family Jobs, Royal British Legion Industries, RMA - The Royal Marines Charity, Salute My Job and JobOppo. They also offer an internal mentor to assist any Veteran in their new role.

The organisation employs [three] Royal Marine spouses and one Royal Air Force Veteran spouse, one of which is their Chief Executive Officer. Heropreneurs offers flexible working to suit individual circumstances, meaning employees can work during school hours, in the evening, or over the weekend if necessary. This flexible approach helps to relieve the pressure when their serving partner is deployed. They will also give Military spouses and partners an opportunity to resubmit their application should it be apparent they have not presented themselves in the best way on their CV/covering letter.

As an organisation they look to provide a supportive, collaborative service to the UK Armed Forces family. Their attitude naturally extends to their employees and recruitment ethos, going above and beyond to not only employ members of the Armed Forces community, but to support them in growing in skill and confidence in their chosen career path. "

The ceremony was held at Rockbeare Manor, Devon, and recognised six other local organisations receiving the silver award including our partners Brigantes Consulting, who were recognised for their employment of veterans and support of reserve and cadet training.

Becci Parriss said:

"As a military charity, it is our duty to provide opportunities for members of the Armed Forces community to not only work, but to have the career and progression they are looking for. As the spouse of a serving Royal Marine, I am particularly pleased to see our commitment to partners of both serving personnel and veterans recognised in this way."
